Nature medicinal and health-improving resource

The Altai territory has the most favorable nature medicinal resources in Siberia for developing treatment at a health resorts.

At present time there are about 4 thousand lakes in the Altai territory and the majority of them contain therapeutic muds and brine; there are over 35 medicinal springs. The research for evaluation of resort resources has been done by the Central Research Institute of Balneology and Physiotherapy, Tomsk and Sverdlovsk research institutes of balneology.

As a result several promising areas of the Altai territory have been singled out, such as Belokurikha, resort “Ozero Gorkoye-Zavyalovskoye”, Kosmolinskaya plain and some other areas.

A part of the resort resources has been cultivated. The Altai territory has the following resorts:

The federal resort city Belokurikha. Its development has been started by the Russian Federation decree ¹101.

Sanatoriums of the Altai territory importance (“Ob”, “Barnaulskiy”, “Sosnoviy Bor”).

21 sanatorium-preventoriums of different institutions;

5 child’s sanatoriums.

The resort city Belokurikha is an important resort for the Altai territory and for Russia by reason of its medical basis and diversity of its balneological resources. Belokurikha’s major medicinal resources are unique nitrogen–siliceous radon mineral waters of Belokurikha, Iskrovskoye, Chernovskoye deposits; mild climate, pure mountain air and beautiful landscape.

At present time 13 resort establishments are active in Belokurikha where 4 thousand people can rest and receive treatment.
