The Emblem of the Altai territory

герб Алтайского краяThe law “About the Emblem of the Altai territory” was adopted on May 25, 2000 during a session of the Altai territory Council of People’s Deputies. The law determines the places where the Emblem can be reproduced (particularly on administrative buildings, the first page of the newspaper “Altayskaya Pravda”, militia vehicles, etc), the rights of the commercial use of the Emblem, registration order, its keeping and the display of its standards, responsibility for breaking the law “About the Emblem of the Altai territory”.

Description of the Emblem:

The Emblem of the Altai territory is a board of a French heraldic shape, the base of which is eight ninth of the height. There is an outstanding edge at the middle of the bottom part of the board. The bottom edges of the board are rounded. The board is divided by a horizontal line into two parts. In the top part of the Emblem, on an azure background there is a smoking blast furnace of the 18th century which symbolizes the historical past of the Altai territory. In the bottom part of the Emblem, on a red background there is an image of Kolyvan “Tsaritsa Vaz” (jasper with green color dominance) symbolizing virtue, bravery and courage. The vase is stored in the Hermitage Museum. The board is framed with a wreath of golden wheat ears symbolizing agriculture as the leading industry of the Altai territory. The wreath is interweaved with an azure ribbon.
